Peak season does not cancel cycle counts; it forces them into tighter windows. The managers who keep accuracy through November and December in Thailand usually protect a ninety-minute morning block before inbound trucks dominate the dock.
Choose zones by velocity, not by aisle number alone. Count the fast movers while the floor is still quiet, then leave slow reserve racking for a quieter afternoon later in the week.
Variance triage should happen the same day. Leaving unexplained gaps until Friday turns a small miscount into a week of wrong pick paths. A short huddle with the supervisor after the count is worth more than a polished spreadsheet delivered late.
We coach crews to mark blind locations clearly: if a bin was empty and unexpected, say so. Silent blanks in the count sheet are how ghost stock enters the ledger.
Hold the window sacred. Once peak pressure eats the count slot twice in a row, accuracy slips for the rest of the season. Put the window on the shift roster the way you put outbound cut-off times.
